The shopping, dining, and service opportunities in the Gaslight Village area of East Grand Rapids continue to evolve and expand. Several new businesses have opened and several have relocated or expanded.
Adding to the options for anything from a quick snack, carryout meal, or full-service dining is Sweet Yo’s, a frozen yogurt shop next to Crazy Charlie’s.
Outdoor dining continues to be popular with all full-service restaurants now offering seating on decks, patios, or porches. There is also a lot of seating on the sidewalks – a perfect place to people watch.
The opportunities for shopping locally have also increased with the new Grand Rapids Bicycle Company store on Lovett Street.
Smooch Beauty Boutique, Papers Plus – now Mason Jones – and L. Marie & Co. have all expanded within the last year.
The services offered in Gaslight Village have also expanded with Seva Yoga moving to a new facility across the plaza and Sacred Roots Salon moving to a larger space across Wealthy Street in the next block east.
In a new category that could be called “Entertainment,” Brush Studio has opened and provides painting instruction – along with a glass of wine. How fun is that?
There’s lots of on-street parking and a large parking garage tucked behind the shops on the north side of the street. Access is gained through the plaza at the north end of Bagley Street.
All of these additions, moves, and expansions continue to make East Grand Rapids an exciting, livable, and walkable community and a great place to call “home.” It’s also a great place to visit.
