The Changing Face of Gaslight Village

The shopping, dining, and service opportunities in the Gaslight Village area of East Grand Rapids continue to evolve and expand. Several new businesses have opened and several have relocated or expanded.

Adding to the options for anything from a quick snack, carryout meal, or full-service dining is Sweet Yo’s, a frozen yogurt shop next to Crazy Charlie’s.

Outdoor dining continues to be popular with all full-service restaurants now offering seating on decks, patios, or porches. There is also a lot of seating on the sidewalks – a perfect place to people watch.

The opportunities for shopping locally have also increased with the new Grand Rapids Bicycle Company store on Lovett Street.

Smooch Beauty Boutique, Papers Plus – now Mason Jones – and L. Marie & Co. have all expanded within the last year.

The services offered in Gaslight Village have also expanded with Seva Yoga moving to a new facility across the plaza and Sacred Roots Salon moving to a larger space across Wealthy Street in the next block east.

In a new category that could be called “Entertainment,” Brush Studio has opened and provides painting instruction – along with a glass of wine. How fun is that?

There’s lots of on-street parking and a large parking garage tucked behind the shops on the north side of the street. Access is gained through the plaza at the north end of Bagley Street.

All of these additions, moves, and expansions continue to make East Grand Rapids an exciting, livable, and walkable community and a great place to call “home.” It’s also a great place to visit.

KW Ranked as a Top 10 Workplace

Keller Williams Realty, Inc. announced today it has been recognized as one of America’s Top 10 Workplaces, according to the first annual National Top Workplaces list compiled by Workplace Dynamics.

“Our culture is our strongest asset and the reason that so many people want to be with us,” Mary Tennant, COO of Keller Williams Realty shares. “Imagine what it would be like to work in a culture every day with people that you feel love, kindness, caring and humor with. Imagine working in an environment where there is a passion for every single person to succeed at the highest level.”

“If this award proves anything, it’s that we only succeed when our associates do,” added Mark Willis, CEO. “We are proud to be in business with the best who are lifting us up each day and proud to be fulfilling our mission of building careers worth having, businesses worth owning and lives worth living.”

The list of National Top Workplaces is based solely on employee feedback surveyed from 805 companies of more than 1,000 employees, which included over half a million survey responses. According to survey results, Keller Williams’ ranking was based on its overall culture and high levels of organizational health including training, benefits, compensation, and work-life balance. “Put simply, the most successful companies appear to be the ones that employees believe in,” said Doug Claffey, CEO at WorkplaceDynamics.

April Meeting of KW of Grand Rapids

We had so much fun at the April meeting! Numbers were in for the 1st quarter and we have rocked the house again! Agents had reason to celebrate! Keller Williams Realty believes it is the agents who make the office. We are blessed with 170 wonderful agents who have dedication and passion for their career choice and it shows in the numbers.

We also discussed our new marketing for the year of 2012. You will now see us on websites, newsletters and golf holes at the following golf courses – Thornapple Pointe, Watermark and Thousand Oaks. Using the latest in technology we will have a QR code on these ads for ease of finding our website. By this summer we will have a mobile site that will make it much easier to search for a home. As KW-GR is always introducing new and effective technology for the buyer and seller.

Our biggest fundraiser is in the planning as well. KW golf outing will be this June and will raise money for our local charity KW Out Reach. Giving back to a community who has helped us be #1 is top priority to us.

Also Red Day is just around the corner. RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate) is an initiative dedicated to celebrating Keller Williams Realty’s year-round commitment to improving our local communities. Each year, on the second Thursday in May, tens of thousands of associates from across the United States and Canada participate in a wide range of projects, devoting their time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighborhoods in which they serve.

We will be returning to St Johns Home this year – to help landscape. May 10th will be a day off for Real Estate for most agents so they can contribute where help is needed. A great feeling to know you are helping but a powerful event as you know other KW agents nationally are doing the same thing!

As you view the pictures that accompany this blog post – you will see laughter, friendship and a family like atmosphere.

Our Values – God, Family, then Business.
